The mission of Marion Catholic Junior/Senior High School is to hold students to high moral, personal, and academic standards within the context of a caring, Catholic Christian Community. At Marion Catholic, the attention is on the student and each individual’s general welfare. The school promotes the young person along with their parents/guardian to explore all possibilities for a complete education tailored to the student’s needs. A co-educational institution, Marion Catholic provides a Christian atmosphere admitting students without regard to gender, race, color or national origin.Being listed as one of the top 20 schools in the Academic Category of Acton Institute’s National Catholic High School Honor Roll demonstrates the strength of the academic programs at Marion Catholic. Although a small school, academics are not limited to just the traditional subjects. Two foreign languages, digital video arts, and computer-based graphics are just a few of the academic courses that expand the student’s experience. With one computer for every two students, technology is an integral part of the life at Marion Catholic.As a charter member of the Northwest Central Conference Sports, Marion Catholic participates in both league and non-league games in football, volleyball, basketball, baseball, softball, cheerleading and track. Sports are an integral part of the education program with over 80% of the student body participating in at least one sport; many participate in several sports.Service is the third major piece of life at Marion Catholic. Students support the community in many ways. Through fund raisers and food drives, money and food is donated to local charities and food pantries. Volunteer service work is done as part of the students’ religion class and as part of service clubs such as National Honor Society, Kiwanis Key Club and VIP club. Classroom and tutoring support is also provided to St. Mary Grade School, the local Catholic elementary school.
