As an instrument of the Catholic Church and Saint Mary Parish, the faculty and staff of St. Mary School help parents to educate children and guide children to live as disciples of Jesus.

Saint Mary School, located in historic German Village and minutes from downtown Columbus, has been fostering academic excellence and spiritual growth since 1865. The student body of Saint Mary School demonstrates a diversity of racial and religious background. Saint Mary School offers a full day kindergarten program, full-time and part-time preschool, before and after school care for students and a daily breakfast and hot lunch program. Students are offered remedial and enrichment opportunities. In addition to the classroom teachers, Saint Mary staff includes a librarian, a computer teacher, a music/band instructor, a physical education instructor, a registered school nurse, a school psychologist/counselor, a speech therapist, an occupational therapist and reading and math tutors. Spiritual growth is enhanced through religion classes, daily prayer, chapel, sacramental preparation and weekly Mass.

Extracurricular activities include participation in the diocesan athletic program, a spring musical, band classes, a Chess Club, student council, Youth-to-Youth and DARE. The Ohio Department of Education has recognized Saint Mary School with the Reading Hall of Fame Award, Youth Science Opportunities Award, and a Certificate for Promoting Student Writing. In addition, Saint Mary School was recognized for Outstanding Efforts to Promote the Spiritual Dimension of a Catholic School by the Diocesan School Advisory Board.
