St. Mary School is a private, parochial school located in Delaware, Ohio. St. Mary was founded in 1885 and occupied a small house adjacent to the church. The present school was built in 1925 and expanded in 1959 and in 2005. Currently, we support 354 students in grades K through 8 and a preschool program that enrolls on the average of 90 students per year. Due to our recent addition, we are now adding a second classroom to better accommodate students at various levels. St. Mary has two kindergarten classes and two rooms in grades 1 through 3. As we divide our students into two classes, our goal is to maintain class sizes of 25 to 30 students, and this is what the class size is for grades 1 through 3 at this time. The average class size for the remaining classes sits at 31.Our new addition includes a regulation size gym, and a renovated Common area. Our faculty consists of 13 classroom teachers, 4 full time aides, a computer teacher, a media director, a physical education teacher, a learning disability teacher, a reading tutor, music and band teacher. We also have a part time nurse, an educational psychologist and a speech therapist one day a week. This year we have added a full time Spanish teacher for all grades. Our mission statement explains our total dedication to Catholic education for each family. It states: We, at St. Mary School, working together with our families as a supportive, caring Catholic community, dedicate ourselves to the spiritual, educational, personal, physical, and social growth of our students. Our goal is to address the diverse needs of our students and to prepare them to be productive, responsible, well-rounded Catholic individuals.
