The mission of Bishop Fenwick School, with the support of St. Nicholas and St. Thomas Aquinas parishes, is to provide a unique environment where Catholic values and morals are integrated with academic excellence. The students are given the opportunity to realize their highest potential spiritually, intellectually, emotionally, physically, and socially, as they are prepared to serve as leaders of the future.Bishop Fenwick School is newly consolidated from St. Thomas Aquinas School and St. Nicholas School. Its purpose is to provide children with a climate where faith, trust, and love for God and others is encouraged, lived, and witnessed. During the children’s nine years, the staff at Bishop Fenwick will focus their attention on a Beatitude each year, as a guide and a foundation for growth in the years to come. The staff has chosen “CHANGE” as a key word and the “BUTTERFLY” as the symbol to reflect the BEATITUDE chosen for the 2006-07 school year:“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the children of God.”As the staff looks forward to the future growth and development of the new school, they will focus their VISION on the following words from Scripture:“This is what the Lord asks of you:to act justly, love tenderly, and walk humbly with your God.”Micah 6:8Bishop Fenwick School staff includes certified teachers in preschool through grade 8 with part-time teachers in math, music, art and technology. Support for students with special needs is provided by a licensed tutor in reading and math and speech/hearing.Terra Nova tests indicate that the students’ obtained scores exceed their expected scores by up to 14 points. Many students’ scores are in the high 80 percentile to the low 90 percentile. Students score better the longer they attend the Catholic schools in Zanesville.
