St. Patrick Elementary School, the only Catholic school in Madison County, was founded in 1874 and has operated continuously since its inception. Its educational programming encompasses a pre-school, kindergarten, and grades one through eight.
                       
Students are tested annually at grades 2-8 with the CAT/Terra Nova. Our students consistently perform well above national average on these tests. In addition, their performance is on a par or better when compared to other Diocesan elementary schools.
           

A dedicated faculty requires students to be active learners.  They use a variety of instructional approaches and assessments to accommodate differences in students’ learning styles.  In addition to the full-time faculty, a speech/hearing specialist, a math tutor, and a reading/intervention specialist assist students who need additional special attention to overcome learning problems. 

 

Students at St. Patrick School are taught to be people of integrity, to respect others, to show compassion, to build community, to be of service to others, and to be people of hope.  The religious education program emphasizes Gospel values through daily religious instruction, daily chapel service, Wednesday Mass, and a Word of the Week program.  The faculty and staff model these values in their daily interactions with children.  Dress codes for faculty and students are maintained. 

 

St. Patrick School continues to excel in making technology available to students in the classroom.  Each classroom has a minimum of six computers, with an additional eight computer stations in the student library.  Students use the computers to do research using the web, to learn how to key-board, to improve their reading and math skills and for other academic tasks.  Nine SMART boards are used for instruction.  Teachers in grades 1-8 utilize the Accelerated Reader (AR) program to encourage independent reading.  A mobile cart containing eighteen laptop computers is also available to students and teachers.  St. Patrick also offers Mandarin Chinese instruction via Long Distance Learning technology.
